Who likes sale-ing?

Garage sale-ing, I mean.

It's one of the few things I really like about the warmer months. My best friend and I have decided to make it a summer of sale-ing and we started today [despite the fact that it was freezing and a little rainy]. Today was the townwide garage sale and it would have been an all day event except for the weather, but we put in three hours.

I brought my daughter along and she came home with two Asian style necklaces and a huge stuffed frog wearing a crown.

I bought two bracelets, two bottles of acrylic paint, a miniature vase for my collection, a handful of book socks and a box of pencils for September, two candles, and a pasta cooker.

My girlfriend found an armful of cookbooks, some candles, a vase and a brand new pair of pants with the tags still on.

You can't beat that with a stick.

Our total expenditure for the three of us was uner $20.

Do you go sale-ing? If you do, have you ever found a magnificent bargain? Do you own garage sale items that you cherish?

Congrats on liberating treasure!

Why are the pencils for September?

We went to a sale last week and hubby bought a 50 year old derby -- which he wore today!

I stock up on school supplies all year long, so whenever I find a bargain on anything like that, I put it away.

A 50 year old derby! That's cool. My husband likes Fedoras [cause of Indiana Jones].

I love to go to yard sales. Always fun when you get a good find. OUr town also has a big trash pick up day. That's where everyone throws out the things that are too big for the garbage men to pick up. You would be surprised at all the really good stuff people throw out because they don't want to pay someone to come and get it. Me and hubby always drive around town to see what kind of goodies we can find. One time I found a really old kitchen stand with a stainless steel top to it. Really nice. Another time I found a really old heavy duty door and I brought it home and made a head board out of it. Turned out really nice and everyone loves it.
I also wanted to tell you that I love the covers to your books. Especially Immortal Lovers ~ Anthology. All of them are very sexy.

Smack myself in the head! He bought a fedora. (I have derby stuck in my brain because my friend has been going on about the Kentucky Derby -- which was the day we bought the hat -- so I'm connecting it to Derby in my head -- and I was off by a week as to when he bought it, which means maybe I need a hat to keep my brains from getting jostled.)

Thanks for stopping by, Glenna! I'm glad you like my covers. I've been really lucky to have some fantastic cover artists, especially Trace Edward Zaber of Amber Quill. He did some of my favorite ones.

Jen, I think it's a writer thing. One thought leads to another and everything and relative. LOL. I've always wondered why they call a race a Derby anyway.

I used to love going to garage sales before I got married and had kids. Now that I have a 3 year old and a 7 month old I just don't have the time. I loved the great deals I would find on books. I also would find some really lovely pieces of jewelry sometimes.
