Thursday Thirteen #16

In addition to today's Thursday Thirteen, I'm also over at Star-Crossed talking about the evolution of character values. Check it out!
Thirteen Hobbies I Have Had
1. Writing – turning this one into a career
2. Quilting – an excuse to collect pretty fabric
3. Candlemaking – an excuse to never throw out a piece of wax
4. Beading – now I make beaded book marks for promo
5. Reading – wish I had more time to spend on it
6. Blogging – is it a hobby if you do it for promo?
7. Painting – I’m not good at it, but it’s fun
8. Miniature doll house building – a lot of work but fun
9. Needlepoint – gave that up a while ago
10. Crocheting – I do this while I watch TV
11. Counted Cross Stitch – I gave up counting, too hard on the eyes
12. Quilling – not to be confused with Quilting, also very hard to do
13. Laundry – I do it so often it’s either my career or my hobby, I’m not sure which

It's time to party!
I'm over at Star-Crossed today helping to get ready for our big anniversary bash. Drop by and check out the week long preparations. The ladies of Star-Crossed: Kat, Lynda, Xandra, and Skylar, have done a magnificent job of setting up our shindig. Pull up a chair and glass of champagne, or whatever they drink on your planet, and join in the festivities.

What I'm Reading
I'm in the middle of two Diva books right now and enjoying both of them. I'm so happy I finally got to pick up a few titles from the authors I know!

A few weeks back I picked up Immorati by MK Mancos. MK is one of my CPs and she writes red hot science fiction and thought provoking paranormals. This one has an X-Files flavor to it that makes it a compelling read AND it's set in New Jersey!
Not too many books are set in the Garden State because the people who live here generally don't like to admit they live here and the people who don't, don't really know anything about us.
MK builds on the Jersey Devil legend in this story and gives you a reason to wonder what really goes on in the Pine Barrens. Anyone who's ever driven all the way south on the Garden State Parkway will know what I'm talking about. And those of you who haven't, now you have a reason to make sure your car windows are rolled up nice and tight!

Because I'm a little bit hyper when it comes to reading, I'm also in the middle of Portia da Costa's Entertaining Mr. Stone. This one was in my TBR pile already believe it or not - and I didn't know I knew Portia through Romance Divas, so when I cleaned out the TBR and found it, I had to start reading it.
This one is erotica of a very different flavor for me. It's written in first person, present tense! I've never read a book written that way before. It was a bit startling at first, but it works. It has a Bridget Jones feel to it that's fun and entertaining. There's just something about erotica with a British accent. LOL.So if you're looking for new flavors in your reading, I recommend Immorati and Entertaining Mr. Stone to spice up your TBR pile!
PS: I'm also over at Star-Crossed today with this week's Backlist Bonanza Book of the Week excerpt!

Random
Random. It's a word I hear all the time now. It's my daughter's favorite word. Everything she says includes the word. "Some random dude in my class today was...blah blah blah..." "We have random homework." [How does that work I wonder? Does the teacher just say, "Pick a page from your book and do it at random?"] My favorite is: "That's so random!"
Isn't everything that happens is sort of random? I guess it depends on how you look at it - some people say chaos rules and nothing has a plan or a pupose. Everything is random. Others say there is a master plan to the universe and everything happens for a reason. I'm in the latter group. I think even randomness is planned in some way. It's all part of a larger scheme of things.
On that note:
Today I'm posting a random page from my work in progress over at Star-Crossed Romance. It's random page week, so check in for excerpts from all of our WIPs.
